Sometimes you could be sad, or things are not just where you’d want them to be. Yeah, life could be like that, but some good writers can put a smile on your face. You see, some people can talk to make you smile. Some call them comedians, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the only way to make people smile. You can read something that can make you laugh out loud.
Knowing the novels that should get you laughing in no time is very important, especially when there are over four million of them out there. These novels that should change your mood are from excellent writers who know what they’re doing. So, let’s get right into it. 1. Carry On, Jeeves This is a collection of ten short stories written by P. G. Wodehouse and published in 1925. Wodehouse's Carry On Jeeves is the story about Bertram "Bertie" Wooster and his gentleman's gentleman of a servant, Jeeves. Jeeves has a head suited to fix the oddest of problems and seems almost magic at times with his ability to understand people. P. G. Wodehouse was born in 1881. He’s a comic novelist, short-story writer, lyricist, and playwright. There’s no doubt his work will put a smile on your face. 2. The Idiot Written by the recipient of a Whitings Writers’ Award, a staff writer at the new yorker, The Idiot is the novel. It was published in 2017 and soon was nominated as a finalist for The Pulitzer Prize. Elif Batuman, the writer, has had lots of interviews about the novel, and it seems there’s a lot to come from her. 3. I Feel Bad About My Neck Very funny indeed. Nora Ephron’s book was published in 2006, and in it, she shares her ups and downs. Ephron also was a reporter, producer, essayist, schmoozer, gossip, gourmand, and critic. It’s good to know that she’s won lots of awards. 4. My Sister, the Serial Killer It’s a debut novel written by Oyinkan Braithwaite, a Nigerian-British novelist, and writer who won the best first novel award. Doubleday Books published the book in 2018, and people love it on Goodreads. So, if you want to laugh, then it’s one you should look at. 5. The Timewaster Letters Another funny novel that’s sure to put a smile on your face. Written by Robert Darren Popper, a British comedy producer, writer, actor, and author. He’s best known as co-creator of the mock BBC documentary, Look Around You and creator of Channel 4's sitcom Friday Night Dinner. The Timewaster Letters was published in 2005, and it soon started getting many endorsements from celebrities. The book contains some of the most outrageous requests and ridiculous drawings you are ever likely to see. |
